The biggest theme I see in this book is about being brave and show us how brave Annemarie and her family members really are. Throughout the book, we see many different situation that put Annemarie’s family in danger and never once did her family back down on helping people in need. Her dad being brave by taking in Ellen as his own daughter to protect her from the solider. Her mom was being brave by leading Ellen’s family to the boat to escape in the middle of the night. Her uncle Henrik being brave by taking in the people and hide them in his boat to help the Jews escape. Annemarie big sister, Lisa, and her fiancé, who she consider like a brother, Peter was being very brave by joining the Resistance to fight for the Jews from the German. Lastly Annemarie, a ten year old girl who being the bravest of them all risk her safety by delivering the package to her uncle Henrik. One thing to point out is that, being brave doesn’t mean you have no fears for I believe everyone of Annemarie’s family members have fears. Being brave means you have fear, but don’t let the fear stop you from doing what you know is a right thing to do. In this story, the right thing to do is to help the innocent Jews from discrimination of the …show more content…
