I am Chelsea Jeffers, I came from Ashtabula, OH and lived there my entire life, I took classes and Kent State in Ashtabula in high school before coming here. School is my number one priority behind my family. I know what I want and where I am going with my life so school comes first. I am in this class because I was required to take it but also because I want to learn more about myself being in classroom and how I view myself in a classroom. I knew from an early age that being an early childhood educator is what I wanted to do for many reasons. Growing up I came from an extremely large family, I am the youngest of sixty cousins and I was practically raised with their children so I was around kids my entire life. My mom babysat so most of the …show more content…
I would not be the person I am today had I went to a different school. My teachers were extremely involved in school and with their students and I never went to school feeling uncomfortable or nervous. My teachers are my biggest influences outside of my family, my teachers always pushed us to do our best and follow whatever path we chose in our lives. Because of my teachers I want to be able to do the same thing that they did for me, they inspired me. I was nervous at first to tell everyone my decision that I wanted to be an early childhood education major because I did not know if everyone would support me, but I never had anyone tell me not to go for it, growing up I was always told that I could be whatever I wanted to be, and I could not be more gracious to my family for believing in …show more content…

Another strength that I feel that I have is that I am willing to learn, I want to know as much as I possibly can and being in a classroom with kids teaches you more than you know because there is always something fascinating that they come up with to teach you. I feel that the role of the teacher in an early childhood environment is to be more of a leader rather than a strict teacher. I feel that kids have so much to offer and while we are in a classroom and there are aspects that need to be covered we need to be able to let students learn things on their own. We need to be there to guide them in the right direction but not force them to do things one way. Kids are extremely versatile and if we are leaders rather than bosses, kids are more likely to follow and

As an early childhood educator, I believe I am responsible for providing my students/children of different ages positive learning experiences that they will remember for the rest of their lives. As their educator or teacher; I hope that I am modeling positive attitudes, show respect, have a lot of patience, care for them and their families, be loving, have the room feel welcoming, make them feel safe etc. Children/students deserve to get the best education and the right to have their needs met at their schools and learning center environments. I believe guidance and discipline needs to be assessed on an individual basis, due to the diverseness of each child, not every child responds to guidance the same way.
