Camp Overview

For over 60 years, Camp Young Judaea Texas has continued to flourish and expand. We receive over 600 campers each summer and administer programming to thousands of individuals throughout the year. Through dynamic camp activities and superior retreat programming, our organization provides children and adults with a fun, educational space that fosters spiritual growth, social activism, appreciation for nature and the environment.
Like many organizations throughout Texas, CYJT has begun making strides to implement new systems that encourage environmental wellness and reduce waste. Throughout our year round camp programming, a significant amount of waste is created. Energy, water, food, and recyclable materials are only a few examples of the different types of waste found in a camp environment. Therefore, Camp Young Judaea Texas is in the process of becoming a Texas model for water sustainability and environmental conservation.
Over the course of the next five years, CYJT intends to build and showcase various clean and sustainable infrastructures that are being produced worldwide. Throughout our camp facilities and within our education program, we will incorporate the use of technologies; such as solar paneling, biogas, drip irrigation, rainwater collection cisterns, water and electricity metering, alongside various other tools currently revolutionizing modern sustainable practices.
