Being A Supervisor Essay

Chips can be traumatic, but they can teach us volumes. It all began on a humid Saturday evening. I was donning my blue “Frito-Lay” t-shirt and preparing for my first night on the job. The best part is that my “supervisor” was a good friend of mine, an elderly man in his sixties. Because of this my immediate assumption was that the night would be relatively smooth sailing. When the doorbell rang, I enthusiastically ran to the door and proceeded to open it, and the warm summer air rushed in. Upon seeing my supervisor, I stuck out many hand to welcome him but with a stern look on his face he said “We’re late,” refusing my handshake and motioning for me to get in his truck. …show more content…
The first order of business, as stated in the truck, was to observe the shelves of the store and record any deficits they had in their potato chip supply. The massive semi-truck that held these replacement ships was sitting parallel the store. On this truck was a padlock that once opened revealed the salty cargo: boxes stacked up to the ceiling of nothing but chips? We quickly found the boxes containing the chips we required and returned to the store. It was at this point when things began to go wrong. Firstly, after I shuffled all of the boxes into the chip aisle, I began to take chips out of the bag to put them on the shelves. I quickly realized that finding where all the different chip brands go was quick a difficult job (unless you knew from memory, a luxury I didn’t have as it was my first day). My immediate thought was

Numerous studies have shown that a healthy workplace environment improves quality care to patients, and increases the productivity of an institution (Registered Nurses Association of Ontario [RNAO], 2013). This can be achieved through an effective interprofessional collaboration and teamwork among health care providers (RNAO, 2013). In the current healthcare setting, multiple professionals collaborate to provide an exceptional patient-centred care. It is inevitable that one discipline leads other caregivers to resolve patients’ health problem. An exemplary leader should not only promote interprofessional collaboration among the followers, but also should encourage others to lead when his or her expertise is needed.…

Manager Interview Final Exam Being a manager is not easy, it takes a lot of responsibility, planning, effort, commitment, leadership skills, and communication skills. Interviewing a manager that has been working as a manager for more than at least three years helped me have an idea of what it feels like to be a manager. While interviewing Holly Riser, a full time manager at a retail store named Rue 21, I learned that being a manager is not just about leading your co-workers; there is a lot more to it. It is important for managers to be good communicators, but it is also important for them to be organized and prepared for any outcomes that could happen in the future.…

When I think of delegating to other members of the health care team I get specifically think of the delegation an RN gives to CNA’s. I am concerned about the CNA rejecting what I am asking them to do and that they will not do what I ask properly or effectively. I also am concerned that they will resent me for making their job harder by giving them more tasks to do when they are already busy. I also struggle with the idea of the tasks that I should delegate to a CNA and deciphering between the things that I should just do on my own or to delegate to a CNA. There is definitely a need for delegation but finding the right thing to delegate and to the right person is hard.…

My leadership philosophy is one that is rooted in the strong belief that it must be a continuous quest to motivate all students to become critical thinkers, effective communicators, and lifelong learners, while possessing outstanding character. Accomplishing this requires a leader who is knowledgeable in pedagogy and curriculum, including the use of data and current assessments to enhance instruction, and who possesses outstanding communication skills, the ability to manage an operation’s resources effectively, promotes collaboration and teamwork, and is passionate and committed to helping students learn. I believe that my interpersonal skills will be my biggest strength as an educational leader.
