I have always been the type of person that wanted to do something for others. Whether its making an impact on a person’s life or making a child smile, just knowing I’ve made a difference in the world and that I can help someone is something that makes me feel good about myself. That’s where social work comes into play. I’ve always seen social work as the job where I can help others. It doesn’t matter who you’re helping an adult or child, social workers make a tremendous impact on people’s lives and it is something that holds my interest about the field. My experience with working with children has made a huge impact on my decision of why I want to be a social worker and work with children. Working as an ABA therapist with children that have autism at Behavioral Innovations has been one of the greatest experiences that have helped me face problems that are in front of me. While working at my job I have learned to take on leadership roles, to work as a group and communicate, and most importantly, patience. …show more content…
School was not easy for me, and I had to work extra hard. In the end, I had the best learning experience while I was there. At times, I did have low grades and ended up finishing my undergraduate career with a low GPA due to exams, not studying enough, and working and going to school at the same time which became a big load. But, I did not let that stand in my way of completing school and following what I wanted to do. With the help of my professors and fellow classmates I learned a better study method and how to be consistent when it comes to taking exams, but most importantly, I learned that it’s ok to ask questions if you don’t understand something. Finishing college was a big milestone for me and I plan to continue on and become a better learner from it. I know that college is not a walk in the park, but without the experience I would not be where I am
