Being a slave is being owned as a possession. Being told what to do, with no freedom. Being mistreated if not obedient. Being disorientated with your own life and mind because you were manipulated by people that are considered higher than you due to the skin they were born into. The way these people explained slavery to be was brutal, but they wrote like it wasn’t a situation so miserable for a life to be given, they wrote how they didn’t know life was any better for them other than how they were previously and currently treated at the time. They weren’t aware of a better life at all.
