Personal Statement: A Career As A Psychiatrist

Being a psychiatrist is more than just diagnosing people with their personal turmoils, such as “crazy” or “disturbed “, and handing them a pill for a “quick fix”. Psychiatrists need to know how to treat different patients, whether that be handing them a certain pill for maybe depression or anxiety along with some counseling, or just being someone for them to confide in and trust. A psychiatrist has to be able to put a lot of time into their job due to having a lot of responsibilities, and being put under a lot of stress. They must love the job nevertheless, not only for the physical rewards received, but also knowing that they are the person someone trusts and can always come to. Anyone becoming a psychiatrist needs to know what exactly they are getting into. The work environment of a psychiatrist is more formal than other jobs that are out there. A psychiatrist usually works in a small, private offices or clinics, and are often assisted in some way ( OK Career Guide). In my personal opinion, working in a private office, with my own staff that would have been hand-picked and trustworthy, would be better for me in the sense that they could be responsible with more since I would know them. Being able to trust the people working around you and helping with your cases or anything involving a patient, brings peace around the office and would help with the comfort around the area. 2. Being a psychiatrist has many more strings attached to it than most people would think. But being a psychiatrist has many perks to it. Despite all of the trials and stress it may cause, the overall result of being a psychiatrist to many people is the bes thought you can have. Having the knowledge of knowing that you are the one person that someone can trust, is the biggest blessing of them all. We are always told to love one another and be there for anyone in need. Well, what better way to do that than making it a life
