The first time, I enrolled in this class, I felt excited knowing this class would help on my grammar, so I can become a better writer. My first thought that cross my mind was this was going to be easy and it was. My last experienced with writing and English was okay because I mainly get a B or a C, but rarely I would get an A. I always been having trouble with grammars. My high school English teachers taught us about grammars and how to become a better writer. Going into this course I was thinking: “Okay, Lisa, I have had a lot of experiences. What more can I possibly learn? I highly doubt that I will come away from this class learning something new.” But sure enough, I was wrong and you were right. For example, I always thought it was unhealthy to skip periods if a female is on birth control, but Planned Parenthood told me otherwise.…

Discuss an experience that sparked your interest in this field. I was a young freshman, wandering the halls of Cambridge High School attempting to find my classes without being late. During my freshman year, I was enrolled in a fascinating science class; biology. I became amazed at everything that I learned about and how every body system was so intricate in its functioning. I also loved how different levels of organization affect upper levels of the body system.…

I feel like I have learned a lot more than I do in some other classes. This course was not just a memorize the terms, regurgitate said terms on an exam and forget the material. There were many real examples that have sparked a lot of interest for me. Fair Trade items are now something that I am very familiar with and I attempt to find ways to purchase things I need that are fair traded. The climate change and global warming topic sparked my interest when I learned that all the glaciers will be gone by 2015.…

IV nutrition was developed during the 1960s by Dr. Stanley J. Dudrick. He first used this technique on Beagle puppies, but soon, it proved to be quite useful in helping newborns with catastrophic gastrointestinal malignancies.…

Beginning this class, I was not sure what to expect because I did not really know what community health was. I signed up for the class to fulfill the requirement for my minor. Throughout this class, I have learned so much about the aspects of the community health, agencies, drug abuse, health rates, and disease types and control. These were all topics that were greatly interesting to me and I feel like the class improved my understanding of the way in which many communities operate. It also taught me the correct meaning of many terms that I thought I knew what they meant, but I had heard them used incorrectly so often that I associated the wrong meaning with the word.…

Over the course of this class, I have learned many new things about diet, health, and proper nutrition for a long life. Without learning these very important things, I may have just continued on my old diet, which was not healthy in the least. I have now seen a real proper diet, complete with all different food groups and everything in between. I am grateful for this class, because otherwise, I would probably still have that unhealthy diet. Nutrition taught me a lot, and I am ready now to follow all that it taught me, and I think I have the knowledge now to teach the people around me about it too.…

I vaguely remember sitting at my desk wondering what led me to the Health Sciences and Technology class.
