After watching the four Texas Nurses Association (TNA) videos, I believe there are several necessities that should be accomplished in order to develop a professional level of Nurse Practitioner. First, is becoming involved with a professional association, second is becoming conscious of health policy, and thirdly is becoming engaged in health policy. Without these actions, the Nurse Practitioner is performing at a basic level and will not thrive at the professional level. The first priority is to join, if not already a member, a professional organization like the TNA. Involvement in an association is fundamental for the Nurse Practitioner to stay informed on present health issues in addition to networking with other professionals. Through the TNA, and other organizations, the Nurse Practitioner has the ability to glean knowledge from other professionals as well as distributing the knowledge acquired to others. Involvement in the TNA, or similar organizations, allows the nurse practitioner to excel in practice. Secondly, awareness of health policy is essential.
