Address any issues that the previous superintendent may have left behind, or that the school is currently facing. Meeting with the entire staff, introducing yourself, let them know what your vision for the school is and that you will need each of them to help in order to reach that goal. Then make sure the district is ready for the 1st day of school.
At back to school night the superintendent should introduce himself to the community. He should reveal to the community what the schools vision is and some of the plans that will be put in place to reach that goal. Joining community organizations can help foster relationships with the community. After all, the superintendent is the liaison between the community and the school.
