Being a mother is the greatest job in the world. It is also one of the hardest. Especially when having 3 girls. We lived in a small city called Hammond. April 22, 2013 was the date I have been waiting for 40 agonizing weeks. I was preparing myself to go to the hospital to give birth to my third daughter. My final birth really enlightened me on the strength I have as being a mother. I was styling my 2-year-old Jamyah’s hair in braids before making my way out. Jamyah was not your typical 2-year-old. She was very intelligent and optimistic for her age. She accomplished her toddler milestones very early compared to other babies I have known. As I’m combing her extremely coarse hair she was crying and screaming as if I was cutting her leg off. She screamed, "Mommy it hurts!"
" Beauty is pain", I said. At the time she could not understand that analogy, but I know when she matures into a woman she will have a better understanding. My 8 year old, Danyah, came in the door from school. She ran up to me very enthusiastically like we have been separated for years. "Mommy, after you come back from having the baby, what dinner are you going to cook tonight?" I chuckled and explained to her how I was going to be gone for a few days. That early evening, Darius and I load up and made our way to the hospital.
