Mindfulness is a state of being active, open to attention towards the present activities. Project managers need to learn this art of being mindful which gives them a holistic perspective and attain certain measurable goals with regards to the project. When you learn being mindful, you will be able to improve your interactions in both personal and professional environment.

Have compassion towards others: Being compassionate is actually a hard thing to practice; it means you are changing the way you think and act towards others. The golden rule of showing compassion is to ‘treat others the way you want to be treated’. It is seen that during a project, we are our own worst critics and we beat ourselves up when things are going bad, this indirectly reduces your ability to cope with stress and leaves us open to arguments that are unnecessary, and escalates the likelihood of making poor decisions.

9. Control your emotions: It is seen that during a project lifecycle, as a project manager one has to keep a tab on his / her emotions, failing to do so, it can lead to unpredictability and inconsistency during decision-making process. If you have an understanding of the expected outcome for your project, and its relative priorities and constraints, then that can inject the objectivity for you and your team towards the decision making process while handling a project.
Today, enterprises around the world look at leadership attributes as an important trait while hiring project managers. As a project manager if you practice and model mindfulness and you are able to inculcate the same at work, you and your team will build greater individual resilience.
