Diversity Leadership In my experience, being a diversity conscious leader is important to professional and organizational success as diversity is really about empowering people. Diversity tends to rely on capitalizing ones strengths and utilizing them to their full potential. To be a diversity conscious leader you have to understand the basics of diversity consciousness and what a diversity conscious leader is. A diversity conscious leader is and exhibits values, confidence, flexibility, and organizational consciousness. These types of traits are required for a leader to be an efficient and effective leader and who will not display fear when having to work within a team or diverse team. There are many benefits to being a diversity conscious leader such as being able to create positive opportunities, being able to delegate equally, and evaluate performance effectively. Diversity conscious leaders develop their peers and subordinates as well as their careers. They ensure that there is an ample amount of resources available to allow one to develop ones success. Even if one is not striving for promotion or self-development, there should be ways and opportunities available for one to succeed. In having …show more content…
They allow their subordinates or peers the chance to be exposed to leadership and be privileged to the information that those leaders poses. Perhaps they could be afforded the opportunity to attend a meeting, give a presentation, or conduct various activities where they are able to either interact with leaders or display their leadership behaviors and abilities. Within my place of work we tend to take the rising members of our organization and have them develop presentations for our leadership and during the following meeting, present their work which gives those members the exposure they so deservingly want as well as the chance to excel and be considered for upward movement or
