Being a certified pharmacy technician for over eight years; I admire and appreciate the work of my pharmacists. Always striving to learn more, I continue to acquire knowledge of the profession through the eyes of the pharmacists and as a result continue to teach myself what medications do and how they work in the body to help our patients. It is because of this fascination of the profession of pharmacy that I decided it was time to acquire my Doctor of Pharmacy degree.

I believe that my years of experience in this profession and the leadership role I obtained as a technician will help demonstrate that I can be a leader as a Pharmacist as well. I would also like to someday be a preceptor for other pharmacy students and also be an inspiration to those students who find themselves in a similar situation to mine and let them know that it is possible to reach your goals and dreams despite having a bumpy road along the way. Thank you for your considerations and I hope to meet all of you

I am a registered pharmacy technician and have practised in community pharmacy for almost 6 years in the UK. The services that the pharmacy was providing were like where I had previously worked and all the standard operating procedures were similar. However, during the placement, I could see the pharmacist’s point of view rather than a technician and how the role of the pharmacist is different from that of a pharmacy technician. The pharmacist’s role was more focused on the clinical aspect, rather than just dispensing and ordering medication. I learnt how to recruit patients who are eligible for Medicines Use Review (MUR) and New Medicines Service (NMS).…
