Being A Cadet Teacher Research Paper

Being a cadet teacher has helped me make a final decision about my career path. I absolutely love helping the second graders and helping Mrs. Landis. My favorite part about being a cadet teacher is how the students look up to you and watching how they progress over time. I know every student on a personal level and it is amazing to connect with them. I love every one of my students. I perform several tasks within the classroom and interact with the students by helping them do work. Mrs. Landis often has me grade papers, organize papers, pass back papers, and help students fix worksheets. Being a cadet teacher has been very beneficial to me. I honestly enjoy listening to the students tell me stories and what they got on a test or worksheet.

Pre-Teaching Another common general practice that teachers can use to help students with learning disabilities is called pre-teaching. Munk, Gibb, and Caldarella (2010) define pre-teaching as “the advance introduction of information that prepares students for upcoming instruction” (as cited in Berg and Wehby, p. 15). The introduction of difficult concepts and vocabulary can have a significant impact on a student’s progress understanding of new course material. Pre-teaching does not simply have to address vocabulary or concepts for an upcoming lecture. Instead, pre-teaching can be used to review previous concepts learned from a previous section.…

Being an AFJROTC cadet leader is challenging. As Wing Commander of our 250 member Cadet Wing, I had to address an ethical dilemma; leaders dating subordinates; that almost destroyed our drill team. In the US Military, unprofessional relationships are frowned upon as they adversely affect the chain of command due to favoritism. In our unit, unprofessional relationships are discouraged for the same reason. When cadets perceive a promotion given to someone based, not on merit, but on their relationship with the leader, the units’ morale suffers.…

As we’ve studied the different types of educational philosophies in class, I’ve been able to see which category my beliefs fall into and where that puts me in the teaching world. Throughout my educational career, my family and teachers have shaped my philosophy into a combination of both romanticism and progressivism. As a teacher I want to be able to help a student strive for self-fulfillment while focusing on individual student’s learning processes. Based on my ideals, I want for my classroom to be a place where my students can go to learn in a way that suits their personality, and in a non-pressured environment. I want to be able to engage my students and challenge them to learn based on their interests.…
