Behind The Starving Tiger

A man's life hangs in the hands of the woman he loves. The main character is accused of loving the kings daughter. The king puts the man in an arena and gives him to doors to choose from. Behind one door is a lady that he would marry without ever getting to know her, despite his preference or marital status. Behind the other is a starving tiger. The author of the story leaves the ending open to interpretation but based on facts one can conclude that the princess will choose the lady instead of the tiger. The king was semi-barbaric obviously, but that also means his daughter (the princess) could have also been semi-barbaric. Barbarians cannot think or act rationally. Most regular people see barbarians as uncivilized or savage. The man looks at the princess, and while he was the only person in the arena looking at her, “She raised her hand, and made a slight, quick movement toward the right” (Stockton, 17). It is my personal opinion, that the woman led him to the door in front of the lady, because she couldn't bare the thought of seeing her lover torn into pieces. …show more content…
Would you trust the princess, your lover, with your life? Or would you let the love of your life be ripped into shreds by a starving tiger? The title, “The Lady or the Tiger” pretty much tells the princess choices. If the man trusts his lover then he is puuting his life into the hands of the princess. The princess goes through so much trouble to discover what is behind each of the doors. She would feel pain no matter what she chooses. So she just needs to realize what pain will hurt the most, and what pain will hurt a little less. In my opinion, I believe the man should trust his princess, it is his last
