Dr. Martin Luther King assembled one of the most influential speeches on racism, which is still a raging problem today. In the Guardian article “Martin Luther King: the story behind his ‘I Have a Dream’ speech” author Gary Younge explains everything that happened days before and all that was put into it. Twas the night before the speech was given, MLK asked for advice to better his speech. Dr. King had been specifically told by his advisor Wyatt Walker to not use the “I have a dream” cliche. It obviously didn’t work, but it’s repetitive tone is still embedded in the minds of people today. Most of King’s speeches were well received but never as memorable as this one. It set a foundation for an end to segregation and racism. Up to this day, this speech is still looked up to as honorable and respected to continue to try to put an end to racism. The speech reminds me of the nasty things my eyes and ears have seen about people making snarky comments about other races implying they were inferior to theirs. After all these years after the speech, this world still has a long way to go on improving these horrible things. There are many resolutions to end racism. It is also still hard to believe that after decades it is still a problem. One suggestion is people stop thinking other races are inferior to theirs because of another’s culture, skin color, and language. We are all human, we are all equal. In the future, I hope and I believe racism will be extremely slim. I honestly could never believe it would be completely gone. But, if we all work together and see that we are all equal and amazing we can make things work
