The different behavioural patterns as discussed is important to note as communication between the generations can be misinterpreted. Additionally, there are challenges of maximising and adjusting to the different available communication media. However, it is equally essential to take into consideration that the following observations of the different preferences of each generation does not necessarily apply to every individual but rather, the noticeable majority.
To begin with, Traditionalists prefer comprehensive, face to face and written communication. A simple explanation lies in the fact that there were few technological advancements that were readily available. Baby boomers have been known to prefer a more informal, open and direct

It is vitally important to understand each group in detail so as to tailor strategies that will be most effective whilst not undermining the implications of conflict. Conflict between the groups may result in obstacles toward the goal of achieving an environment of shared information and knowledge. The identification of fault lines and issues where certain behavioural characteristics may clash allows for solutions to be created beforehand. Understanding the group profiles will help identify their strengths and weaknesses which may in turn become useful during strategy planning. As mentioned above, each group has contrasting behavioural patterns and characteristics, thus, they will more likely present differing reactions and preferences to certain approaches. The consideration of this factor is crucial as it implies that not everyone is suited to a particular form of communication media. If a particular communication tool is enforced, there may result in a repulsive and even provoked reaction from certain employees. Therefore, there is a need for clear analysis and study before implementations can be made to counter the effects of ineffective …show more content…
In order to efficiently and successfully promote the use of communication technology, I would go about this issue with reference to two factors; Perceived usefulness and Perceived ease of use. Perceived usefulness is the extent that an employee believes the tool presented to them results in increased task performance. Meanwhile, Perceived ease of use is the extent that an employee believes the tool presented to them will result in a reduced amount of effort to accomplish the task. From an employee’s perspective, it will be of no point to use a communication medium if it does not allow them to do a better job or make it easier to say the least. With this perspective in mind, I would ensure my strategy incorporates the idea of providing my employees with various tools to allow them to find their best fit. The idea behind this concept is to encourage employees to maximise the use of communication technology by providing them with various options, and hopefully allowing them to identify one or more that they are most suited with. This is of course in retrospect to forcing employees to adjust toward a particular communication media. As mentioned earlier, enforcements of such unfavourable strategies may provide a counterproductive reaction. This strategy ensures
