Behaviorally Oriented Intervention

A behaviorally oriented intervention would have an interest in the response pattern of Sam and the particular situations in which it occurs. As a counselor I will utilize techniques that enable the determination of the functional relationship between the maladaptive behavior and environment stimulus that are affecting Sam. Cooperating with Sam we will identify the behavior that requires modification, what are the environmental factors that are maintaining those behaviors, what positive reinforcement or punishing events can be used to alter Sam’s behavior?
The operant conditioning or reinforcement theory will help looking at the relationship between the behavior (hesitation, phobia anxiety form returning to school) and its consequences (low
