Behavioral Science. There are many ties to behavioral science when examining domestic abuse. People will say things like how they don’t understand how someone could hurt their partner because they just seemed to be so in love. It is not necessarily that someone wants to hurt someone else, because often the offender will show great remorse. Instead, we can use the behavioral science to understand what caused that offender to make that decision. Was it being abused themselves, being a child and watching domestic violence at home, or maybe a form of a depression or an anxiety disorder?
Criminal Justice. Observing the criminal justice system’s approach for handling domestic violence allows for an opinion on the lack of punishment for offenders.
