Obesity is a condition that is a result of having too much excess body fat. It is measured in BMI and a person who suffers from obesity has a BMI of 30 or more. Obesity results from a person who is unable to control environmental and genetic factors when dieting. Many people who suffer from obesity aren’t aware that they do, as they do not go to their doctors for regular checks up of their BMI. People who suffer from obesity are more prone to suffer from conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease or sleep apnea. Parents have the biggest influence on a child 's diet as they act as a role model for the child. They buy and prepare majority of the food consumed by the child. If parents don’t feed their children healthy nutritious meals but rather fatty, oily foods, it can negatively impact the child and allow them to think this is normal and the child can quickly become obese which can lead to other health issues. The food parents give to their growing children will have a long lasting impact on their child. As a result of this these food habits, they develop from a young age will have lifelong effects on them. If a child is feed lots of oily, fatty food from a young age they will get into a bad habit of eating those kinds of food. This can lead to the children having bad food habits and resulting in them being obese. If children develop bad eating habits and become obese at a very young age this can be very hard to reverse therefore having life long consequence in their health. In the past 30 years the increase in the number of obese people in Australia has increased the most in the world. in 1920 Australia was ranked 63rd in the world for obesity and in 2013 they had moved up 38 spots, making Australia the 25th fattest nation in the world. The rate of obesity in Australia has significantly grown and isn’t going to stop unless something is done and the factors that negatively affect young children 's food choices are stopped. Despite obesity being more common in Adult the obesity numbers in children are still high and are rising fast. Between 1985 and 1995, overweight and obesity in children doubled to 21% and by 2012 it had increased to 26%. Children who become obese at a young age are likely to become obese as an adult, putting them at higher risk of developing obesity related diseases like cardiovascular disease. Therefore in order to stop the increase in obesity rates in Australia we must reverse the factors that negatively affect the young people 's food choices and decrease the number of children who are obese which will therefore eventually bring down the number of adults who are
