To make a change of self-behavior was tremendously tough. I’ve never thought that changing behavior would be exclusively hard. I thought that it would not be a problem as long as if they want to make a change their of behavior. However, it is different from how I imagined because changing behavior was not how I expected it to be. It truly is hard to change when we always did it every day and stopped it at once. On this behavior change project, I changed the negative habit that I had and hated the most, which is staying up late at night and having a hard time wake up early in the morning. I chose this habit on this project because there is multiple times I skipped classes because I cannot wake up. I always have exceedingly difficulty time to fall asleep and staying up late until 1 or 2 am. In the morning, I could not get up or wake up because I stayed up late. Whenever I tried to fall asleep early, I could not do it. I am wide-awake …show more content…
I do not think it would last and could not maintain continuously because we will have winter break next week. I plan to work a second shift during winter break. My behavior will surely relapse to the old, undesirable behavior. Besides, I do not think there is a long-term benefit from this behavior change as for me. I strongly hope that it would relapse to the old behavior because ever since I adapted to the new behavior I became lazy. I spent so much time on bed that make me lazy. I sleep a lot more than necessary. Every chance I got, all I want to do is take a nap during the day. At night, as soon as it gets dark I went to bed immediately. I procrastinate a lot more than I usually do. There are some assignments that I forget to do. I am lacking on the track regarding the assignments. This assignment seemed just like any other. There was a deadline and guidelines and goals that were going to dictate the structure of it. I, however, didn’t know that I was wrong, and it was going to be far from any other. I have a habit, a detrimental one, that was slowly being fed and reassured as “ok” the more and more I went through my schooling. That habit has a name, procrastination, yet I never saw it as a problem because with every assignment and paper I wrote the night before and was able to get a decent grade, there was this unconscious signal that reassure me that if done once, it could be done again.…

He likes to chew gum at school, but as we all know when you pull out a pack of gum at school, all hell breaks loose. Jim really doesn’t want to share, but he was raised to not be greedy with his things and wants to conform to social expectations. He found a solution to this by only purchasing spicy cinnamon gum, which everyone (including himself) dislikes.…

Section One: Behavior Change Plan Assignment Part One: The key behavior that I wish to change to improve my health is to eat more healthy. This doesn't just include cutting out junk food or eating more vegetables, for me this also includes actually remembering to eat. I have a bad habit of forgetting to eat when I am really busy with schoolwork or stressing out over mundane problems. The reason I am choosing to highlight this behavior is because since this quarter I am taking more classes than I normally do which means I get so busy with homework that sometimes I don’t eat anything more than some toast in the morning or a few oranges during a study break.…

Pros are benefits of changing, and cons are costs of changing (Glanz, Rimer, & Viswanatah, 2015). This week I had trouble keeping up with my behavior change for many different reasons. I believe one reason is related to the transtheoretical model. My mind set is still stuck in the preparation stage and I need to push myself past that to take action in the next stage. I know I want to get more sleep but there is many factors that push me to stay awake and sacrifice sleep still; for example, hanging out with friends at night.…

In the book The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg, he claims people can understand and change personal habits. Duhigg provides a description of the so-called habit loop composed of a cue, routine, and reward, pointing out the cues start habits and rewards signal the brain to remember routines. In fact, the author's purpose is to inform the reader about habit loops so they can see how habits work and thus remake them. With Duhigg’s insight about habits, students can stop the bad habit of procrastination, which is the habit of delaying assignments until the last minute. In particular, students should “recognize which craving is the driving behavior” of procrastination to (50).…

Since the beginning of the semester, performing my small act of service by turning the lights off in empty rooms to conserve energy has been like a rollercoaster ride. In the beginning, I was on top of things and made sure to remember turning the lights off to make it a habit. I even remember keeping a reminder in my note app in my phone until I didn’t need it anymore. As I was trying to continue performing my small act of service as it got to the middle of the semester, I noticed that I was less motivated and started to completely forget about continuing my task, especially during the school breaks where I didn’t actually have any work to do. As I was reflecting on my unsuccessful task during the middle of the semester, I came to the point…

Self-discipline was hard to overcome because I would rather go out to hang out with friends instead of doing homework. There were some days that I would stay up until two o’clock the next morning more doing homework for class. Time management wasn’t an easy obstacle to accomplish due to that there was no set schedule for me to complete the necessary tasks, such as homework for either English or AAA 109. I improved my student habits by using a day planner to set time aside to do certain assignments for school and prioritize non-related school tasks. I do homework first before going out with my friends.…
