Task performance can be defined as the effectiveness in which individual perform activities that contribute to organization’s technical process, whereas, citizenship behavior is voluntary employee activities that contribute to the organization by improving the overall quality of the work setting. I initially thought that I would have a high level of citizenship behavior, but it turns out I am not as friendly and helpful as I believed myself to be. The result from the “Helping” assessment from chapter 2 shows that I have a low level of helping behavior with a total score of 35. …show more content…
After I did the assessment, I have learned that I am above average in learning orientation and performance-proved orientation and below average for performance-avoid orientation. High in learning orientation means that I have made good choices throughout the years to better myself with new challenges and skills. What I’ve found puzzling is the above average score on the performance-proved orientation because I have always had this carefree attitude of not caring about what people think of me. However in truth, there is some curiosity of what others might think. As a result, I make decision with an objective to learn, but at the same time, I want to prove to others of my …show more content…
My objective was to learn something new, challenge myself to do something different from my peers, and impress my professor. In the end, I did learn a lot, but the process leading up to the final product was stressful because it was out of my professor and my expertise. This example shows a mixture of the learning orientation and performance-proved orientation. The outcome of the assessment demonstrates the need for the manager and leader to have learning orientation with or without performance-proved orientation because when having a learning orientation, the person will make the best decision to challenge himself and others to produce a more creative, efficient product. I can improve my weakness of avoid-performance orientation by tackle challenges rather than back down and having the mentality to learn rather to avoid facing criticism for my performance. Only through practice will I improve. The most important thing to do now is to look at a decision dilemma with learning orientation. I will make a chart with pros and cons of each decision and make a decision that will challenge me the most but also

When it comes to salary base pay, hourly base pay, merit increases and bonuses it have forever been a touchy subject. In some companies they have policies directing their employees to not discuss it at all. It is a completely uncomfortable situation to have this discussion with others. I have been in scenarios where I have stated both the correct and incorrect amount in which I am being paid on, I never know if I should go lower or higher in the fake amount being told or if I should state my real amount. No one wants to offend the other person or persons in the conversations and in most case no matter what direction the conversation goes someone will be offended.…

According to Barry Schwartz and his writing, “The Debasing of Education: Turning Play into Work,” there are two main types of learning, performance-oriented and mastery-oriented (Schwartz, Barry). Depending on the subject and what I was learning, I have been both. When I was taking my high school classes, most of the time my learning was performance-oriented. I did not really care about how well I learned something as long as for the time being I could regurgitate the information well enough to get a good grade and then forget it. Most of my outside of school learning has been mastery-oriented.…

I always hold the assumption, people look at the quality of the person’s ability to provide to the company. After the start of this class, I have been intrigued to know what the true population of my surroundings were.…
