In this video, the group starts off seated in a circle passing a balloon to one another. The gentleman sitting next the therapist starts off while trying to throw the balloon at someone, but it misses, and the therapist collects the balloon and returns it to him. He then takes the balloon and rubs it on his head and passes it back to the therapist with his head. The therapist then takes on that movement and maneuvers the balloon behind her back and rolls it off to the next person. Now, the rest of the group members are joining in this movement as a way to pass the balloon on to the next person, shared activity. The last person to receive it puts the balloon on his head but then tosses it to the person sitting next to him. Now, group members are throwing/tapping the …show more content…
This person now is turned back so they are part of the circle. As the therapist leaves the circle for a moment, the two group members who are sitting on either side of the therapist take the buddy band and start swinging the band like a jump rope. The other three group members do not join in. The therapist returns and they all engage in a reach and pull motion with the buddy band. This then transitions into a quick side to side moment until the therapist has to get up again. Just as before, once the therapist leaves the circle for a second, the two patients start swinging the buddy band like jump rope again, but this time the motion is not as large as before. When the therapist returns, a returning group member pulls up a chair, joins the circle, and holds onto the band. They are moving side to side with the buddy band, group synchrony. While the people sitting closer to the therapist are able to sync up and go side to side the same way, the patients sitting across from the therapist mirror her side to side movement instead of going in the same direction as the rest of the
