For the first time since before the Ice Age, carbon dioxide will not fall below 400 ppm. This measurement was taken from the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration department, who declared that we will never see carbon dioxide levels fall below 400 ppm during our lifetime and beyond that. The rate of carbon dioxide increase is more than 100 times faster than anything seen in the ice core record that goes back 800,000 years. These trends will continue as long as fossil fuel consumption remains at its current high level worldwide.
