Before The Flood By Fisher Stevens

Before the Flood is a 2016 documentary film about climate change. It directed by Fisher Stevens, and was produced as a collaboration between Stevens, Leonardo DiCaprio, James Packer and others. The major thoughts for this film is that the world’s climate is incredibly interconnected and that it is at urgent breaking point. ‘Let us not take this planet for granted’ is one of the most impressive words for me in this movie. This is a quiet documentary, but it can give me a lot of the excitement of heart. I do believe we can change the situation of our world climate in our daily life, like driving less for one day. The file talks about resource exploitation, the overuse of beef which leads to produce more CO2 and CH4. Then, it causes the world

It is my belief that David Foster Wallace’s speech, This Is Water, reflects the importance of education and human consciousness. This blurb relates to the phrase “ignorance is bliss”. The proverb about fish may be readily applicable to humans living in the twenty-first century. The uneducated are the fish that do not know what water is, and knowledge is the fish that asks them “How's the water?” Many people avoid concerning themselves with various subjects when they do not learn the details of the subject and fail to research or understand the matter.…

“There Will Come Soft Rains” is a short story written by Ray Bradbury that depicted a former Utopian town that had been hit by an atomic bomb, the theme of this story is that no matter how perfect everyone thinks life is it could all be taken away, and that technology can distract us, or keep us from thinking too much about bigger issues. First and foremost, Bradbury shows a perfect family being blown away by the atomic bomb, leaving their outlines in the paint (Bradbury). This shows the family doing normal, commonplace things and obviously not expecting anything to happen to them. Moreover, Bradbury showed the house doing personified and human like assignments such as; making breakfast, and checking the weather (Bradbury). By the house…

Your analysis of Andrew Wyeth's Christina's World, regarding scale and proportion was interesting to read. According to our class reading this week, Professor Tessier explained that “proportion is the size of a part in relation to the whole” (Tessier, 2017). You mentioned proportion in the painting regarding Christina being the largest object in the art work. My observation regarding proportion in this artwork was the vast size of the field in relation to the distance between Christina and the small farmhouse. My interpretation of the vast field was that, Andrew Wyeth wanted to create a sense of isolation between Christina and the farmhouse.…

Man’s relationship to the natural world has always been a competitive one. Since the beginning of human civilization, mankind has strived to develop new technology and inventions through complex innovation but also through the use and help of nature’s resources. Every day, the human race seems to be finding new ways to consume things differently, explore unseen parts of the world, develop faster productivity, and construct radical creations; all to advance collectively as a society. It is nothing short of remarkable all the progress mankind is making, but it can definitely be noted that humans are also failing to consider the toll all this activity might be taking on nature and earth itself, more so the effects it has on climate change in particular.…

When most people think of climate change, they think of polar bears and melting ice caps. Most people do not think of the families in North Dakota who lost their homes to floodwaters in 2009 or the twenty million people left homeless after the catastrophic 2010 monsoon in Pakistan. However, these disasters are the real consequences of climate change that we are facing. Climate change is the warming of our planet to dangerous temperatures as a result of the accumulation of greenhouse gases such as carbon and methane.…

Imagine having summer all year long, being under the sweltering heat, breathing the stuffy, sick air, and conditions worsening as the day goes by. These harsh conditions are increased by air pollution and climate change through cars and factories; man-made inventions. These innovative technologies have been necessary in order to have a functioning and developing society and economy. However, the belief that humans are the sole cause of climate change is refuted by scientists, advocating that the change in the Earth’s climate is a natural cause. Earth formed over about 4.5 billion years ago, and it has changed ever since then.…
