At the beginning of the 19th century the parish of Kilfearagh was a wild virtually inaccessible area on the west coast of Clare, much of its bogland and little visited by strangers. This was at the beginning of the Kilkee town. The 18th century was a trying time on the religious front. The parish of 1841 drew descriptions of the town. The town of Kilkee had grown out of sandhills and the remains were the only barrier between sea and houses for much of the seafront. Agriculture was not good since the famine. Wheat, barley, and oats, and potato’s were the food of the poor. The end of the article talks about the differences
