Beethoven's Major Accomplishments

Ta-Ta-Ta-Taaa; Ta-Ta-Ta-Taaa. The famous motif and most iconic piece from Beethoven’s 5th Symphony, it was considered as “fate knocking at the door”. Beethoven’s greatest work captures the serene brightness from the major keys and the sheer chaotic force the piece has. When I was a child, probably around four years old; It was my first encounter with classical music. The film was Disney’s Fantasia 2000, featuring the world renowned Chicago Symphony Orchestra. I was in awe how cool the music sounded and wanted to do the same thing. Get the same instrument no matter what; that’s probably what I thought. Of course, it never happened and I went on with my life. It was just 7 years ago that I was choosing what to play for the first time, I guess you could call that fate. Out of all the instruments that I tried out, the violin was the only thing I made a …show more content…
I never thought much about seating tests. They are basically a rank from best to worst in orchestra or anything in general. Top players in the front, the not so great ones in the back. Can you guess where I was? Yep, dead last…At first I just accepted the fact I was last but then the concerts started to roll in. At the end, we all stand up and watch the audience applaud. Since I was in the back, no one could see me, it didn’t help that I was short. I felt bad that I couldn’t see my parents when I play and they can’t see me. Adding more sadness to the situation was the other players. They said “You suck at playing, maybe you should quit before high school”. I was prepared to wallow, but I didn’t; I just thought what could I do to improve these circumstances. Of course, the answer was to practice. I worked and worked and worked, I was shocked how far that amount of dedication took me. I got first chair at the end of 8th grade. It doesn’t seem much but I felt like I made myself and family proud of this

When listening to any piece by Beethoven, you receive the whole range of emotions, and the Fifth Symphony is no different. Just the first four notes, a simple da-da-da-dum, is enough to send shivers up your back. Packed with all the furious confidence of Beethoven, it suggests scarlet eruptions, heavenly processions and all the powers human drama. These four notes started the memorable first movement.…

Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony is one of the most well-known symphonies ever written. The first movement is “fast with vigor”. The introduction is somewhat deceiving because it does not feel fast. The smoothness of it allows the listener to sit back and forget how quickly the music is progressing. It is not until the first half cadence from V/V to V that the listener feels how dynamic the movement is.…

A couple years later I was in highschool, I stopped playing football and soccer, and started to really just worry about basketball and lacrosse. Once tryouts came out for lacrosse I immediately showed up and tried out. Coach told me that I made varsity, I was pumped until I found out I would barely play. I probably got about 45 minutes at the end of the season, but I got a varsity letter so it worked out good I guess.…

In his Omnibus television lecture series in 1954, Leonard Bernstein has likened the Fate Motif to the four note coda common to classical symphonies. These notes would terminate the classical symphony as a musical coda, but for Beethoven they become a motif repeating throughout the work for a very different and dramatic effect, he says.…

Like Perlman, many physically challenged individuals turn to the charts. Perhaps the reason is because the joy of artistic achievements compensates for other pleasures they cannot experience. Stevie wonders, Jose Feliciano, and Andrea Bocelli all express, through their music, their souls. Although unable to see physically, their music reveals truly how well they see. Hearing impairment struck Ludwig van Beethoven and Marlee Matlin it didn’t stop them from developing their talents.…

    Beethoven Symphony 5

Symphony no. 5 definitely stood out in all aspects of the piece to me. What I see as effective is how well the audience is drawn into the piece. From the moment this symphony begins, the audience is forced to direct their attention towards the music due to the full orchestra presenting the first tune in fortissimo and then directly moving to piano. The opening series of notes, in the pattern of short-short-short-long with fermatas on the last note, causes startling intrigue in the listener. Here, Beethoven defies the typical, slow introduction pattern.…

Ludwig Van Beethoven Ludwig Van Beethoven was a German classical composer in the 1800’s. He was born into the music industry with both his father and grandfather being musicians themselves. The “Heiligenstadt Testament” was a document written by Beethoven in 1802, while he was resting in Heiligenstadt (Ludwig van Beethoven 's Biography: Heiligenstadt Testament, n.d.). The document was also a letter to his brothers, in it Beethoven revealed to them that he was deaf and told of the despair he felt because of this (Ludwig van Beethoven 's Biography: Heiligenstadt Testament, n.d.). Beethoven also disclosed that he was suicidal and that his music was the only thing keeping him from taking his own life (Ludwig van Beethoven 's Biography: Heiligenstadt Testament, n.d.). Beethoven’s music fit into three separate periods: 1) a formative period that extends to 1802, 2) a middle period from 1803 to 1812,…

At the end of sixth grade, the junior high band came to my elementary school and performed for us. I watched in awe as students, not that much older than me, played music with their instruments. The flute players in the front row especially caught my attention; they were right next to the band directors and held their instruments up to the side, rather than down in front of them like the others. The flute had a high pitched melody and a bright silver color that appealed to me. That day, I signed up for the beginner band on the Coppinville Junior High registration sheet.…
