His full name was Ludwig van Beethoven. He was born December 1770 His parents names where mama Magdalena Keverich and Johann Van Beethoven . He was one of eight children. His siblings were 3 sisters and 4 brothers. His sisters names were Ludwig Maria Van, Anna Maria Francisca Van, and Maria Margarita Van Beethoven. His brothers were Kaspar Anton Karl Van, Nikolaus Johann Van, Johann Peter Anton Leym, and Franz Georg Beethoven. Beethoven stated that he had an unhappy childhood. Beethoven was not only deaf but he was also going blind. He had lost 60% of his hearing by 1816. However between the births of his younger brothers his father began teaching him music so extraordinary that it affected his life. Beethoven was extremely gifted in music but not schooling. He quit school at only 10 years of old. He did continue studying music and learning anything he could share his talent with the musician, Bach he was able to publish a composition at 12 years old. Beethoven wasn’t a child prodigy but believed his nephew Karl was. Even with his hearing worsening he continued a custody battle with his sister in law after his brothers death Beethoven was awarded custody calling Karl’s mother “ immoral.” Karl didn’t like living with Beethoven so he try to commit a suicide several times. Beethoven did not have any parenting skills. There are no official records of his actual birthdate, some historians believe it to be December 16th. They found this date on his baptismal record that occurred on December 17th, 1770. By German law, a child must be baptized before they are 24 hours old. Beethoven still argued he was born in 1772.
