Slowly a crescendo builds and returns the “raging” notes. In the development there was a feeling of battling against reiterating the overall feeling of the piece itself. I feel a rising sensation of urgency and impatience creeping in, as the battle still does not have a victor. The development eventually leads to the next section.
During the thematic degradation you can hear, as Beethoven’s two notes get past back and forth. Everything then residues to an andante tempo and illuminating the tension that had just occurred in the exposition and the development. After listening to the song in it’s entirety several days I noticed that this section is building and “preparing” the audience for the bold recapitulation that is about to occur. The thematic degradation is setting a calm mood before the final battle immerses from the shadows to complete this song.
Comparatively to the other supporting parts the first theme recapitulation is shorter in length than the others. It is returning the “battle” back to the first theme of the expositions with the victorious four notes, the fighting dynamics and the swaying emotions between peace and violence.
