Beerbohm makes a distinction between going out for a walk and being taken out for a walk in his essay, “Going Out for A Walk.” Going out for a walk means he is doing it in his own will. He argues by saying, “But, pending a time when no people wish me to go and see them, and I have no wish to go and see any one, and there is nothing whatever for me to do off my own premises, I never will go out for a walk.” (Beerbohm). Furthermore, it seems that going out for a walk means that the soul is telling him.Being taken out for a walk, in contrast, means that someone else is forcing him to go for a walk.
