I am writing this paper about beef cattle lives from start to finish. About what happens to the cow during that time. It is about what needs to be done to make the cow healthy, and replenish the herd for them to move on and another calf or cow take it’s place.

Beef cattle plays a big role in American farming. It is important to learn about the subject of beef cattle for the reason they are huge in your everyday diet. It has thought to be beef cattle to be the best source of protein and meat. There is a lot of process to get the cow to you and your diet. People find this very easy to get it from the store. What is beyond that? What do the cattle go through before they become that steak. The work that goes into this type of farming is different all year around. Mature cows are often moved to feedlots. Here cattle can spend 4 to 6 months, during that time they have access to water and some room to move around. They are free to eat at feed bunks that have a carefully balanced diet made up of silage mixture such as hay, grass and fiber grains such as corn, wheat and soybean meal. Beef cattle have no special need for certain feed. Eating levels are needed to deliver the needed nutrients for the making of beef. Dry matter intake is affected by a number of factors including cow weight, stage of making, forage, supplement, and environmental factors. Cattle of larger size and body weight have greater chance to eat forage and feed compared to smaller size or lighter weight. Additionally, thin cows are more likely to eat greater amounts of feed compared to well fed cows. Forage intake is limited by forage quality.
