Beechworth Asylum
Beechworth Asylum, originally known as Mayday Hills Lunatic Asylum, was founded in 1867. It closed in 1995. The asylum is located in Victoria, Australia. One of the famous features it used was a creation called “Ha-ha Walls.” Ha-ha Walls consisted of a trench, one side was vertical and faced with stone or bricks, the other side sloped and turfed. From the inside, the walls presented a tall face to patients, preventing them from escaping, while from outside, the walls looked low so as not to suggest imprisonment.

The prison was active from 1829 to 1971. Criminals such as Al Capone and bank robber Willie Sutton were inmates.
The guards and councilors of the facility designed a variety of physical and psychological torture regimens for various infractions. This includes dousing prisoners in freezing water outside during winter months, chaining their tongues to their wrists in a fashion such that struggling against the chains could cause the tongue to tear, strapping prisoners into chairs with tight leather restraints for days on end, and putting the worst behaved prisoners into a pit called "The Hole", an underground cellblock dug under cellblock 14 where they would have no light, no human contact, and little food for as long as two weeks.

With a history of torture and execution, the Tower of London is regarded as one of the most haunted places in the UK. It was originally built in 1078 by William the Conqueror.
One of the most famous ghosts known here is of Anne Boleyn, the wife of King Henry VIII. She was beheaded in 1536, and her headless body has been seen walking the Tower’s corridors and often near the spot of where her life was ended.
Another famous sighting here is of two ghost children. They have been witnessed throughout the rooms of the castle and are often seen in their nightgowns, holding hands. It is believed these are two former Prince’s, who were sent to the Tower after they were deemed illegitimate by Parliament. They vanished one day and it was assumed that they were murdered by order of their uncle, the Duke of Gloucester. Apparently, two small skeletons were exhumed beneath a staircase in the White Tower.
