The reason I chose qualitative and mixed methods is because they focus around the patient. According to our textbook "Qualitative and mixed methods are primarily useful in determining the preferences and values of the patient", also, "Qualitative methods are appropriate for addressing questions in which the meaning of the patient’s experience is central to understanding the best therapeutic approach" (Houser, pg. 41, 2015). Researching and putting the most current studies into practice is vital to efficient patient care and it sets a pattern of life-long learning from the most current of sources ("Identifying and evaluating," 2011) . As to databases used for the topic search, for some reason I had trouble finding full text articles on Google Scholar so I decided to go with CINAHL by using keywords and advanced search strategies. I made sure to limit my search to full text, peer reviewed articles that were not older than five years. My first article is called “Impact of SBAR on Nurse Shift Reports and Staff Rounding” by Paul Cornell, Mary Townsend Gervis, Lauren Yates and James M. Vardaman. The article describes how observation of the SBAR technique were conducted at a Medical Surgical
