Although the sixteen students of Honors Seminar 200-011 are similar in hundreds of ways, our answers to eight basic questions concerning the honors house walk through contained more variations than similarities. Even for simple questions with one correct answer, such as “how many chairs are in the courtyard,” our responses ranged from two to two hundred, and the class debated the definition of a chair. Discussing something as basic as a chair versus a bench versus a couch demonstrates the variety of ways people can interpret each question, no matter how elementary, so even though there are nine chairs in the courtyard, there is no concrete answer.
