Bedford Junior High School: A Short Story

Improved Essays
Water, yeah it's an issue at Bedford Junior High School. Now why is it? We can't have water bottles, so when anyone is sick we can't bring water bottles in, unless we have a doctor's note. Which is foolish because I'm sick and have a sore throat and a dry throat, do you want me to pay money just to get a note for you for my water bottle? If you want me to have dehydration during the school year fine let me die. Now if the weather is in the 89-90s they allow us to have water bottles for a week, only for a week, and that's not the worst. We also don't have air conditioning so that's a downside for Bedford as well. Now let me tell you some downsides on not having water. First, dehydration, when you're thirsty you get a drink right? Well we …show more content…
You probably think yeah but they talk and work the whole time. So do we, we have to talk to our fellow classmates and sometimes we have to talk in front of the whole class as well as they do. We have so much work to do too. When we aren't aloud to drink during class but they can? I just don't get it do you? Now everything that we do in school makes me have so much stress and I can't handle it. In the next paragraph I will tell you things on how to fix all of these problems.

So I have an idea on how to fix all these problems. First just let us all bring water bottles. I don't know why we all can't, If there's a problem go find that kid who messed up and talk to him and don't let him have water bottles. Second, some of us may need water during summer if we don’t have any we may pass out, so again just give us water! Lastly if teacher have water or food in class they should let us have food or water in class to make it fair.

In conclusion to solve all the misunderstanding just allow us all to have water. It's not that hard to. If we ever have a problem with the water bottles again don't take it out on all of us. Find that one kid who did it and talk to them! So I hope someone reads this and open their eyes and let us have water bottles in school

Overall, Niman makes a well supported claim that water bottles are maybe not the best thing for our planet. He makes great points that are well supported and we even see a lot of illustrations on his part. These illustrations allow the readers to really grasp what he is saying and connect more with the topic at hand. The most effective thing that Niman does in this text is the use of examples and appeals. By giving phsyical evidence of what is happening as a result of these plastic bottles, the reader can connect.…

That starts with making a personal commitment to not buy or drink bottled water unless the water in your community is truly unhealthy. Yes, it takes a bit of foresight to grab a reusable bottle on the way out, but I think we can handle it”(64). This is one suggestion that can be applied in real life, even though it will be a big sacrifice for some people who are used to buying bottled of water and don’t like tap water. But the sacrifice will give a positive outcome in our environment, and there will also be less pollution by using reusable…

The most serious problems at Marlboro Middle School is that people feel left out of a certain group, people disrespecting each other, and stress. The first issue is that people feel left out which is one problem in our world that cannot be fully solved, but at Marlboro Middle School we can start including people from around our school and include them to feel safe in our school environment. Another issue is that people disrespect each other sometimes on purpose, others unintentionally. Lastly, a common issue at our school is stress.…

It has come to my attention that the recent obesity epidemic will soon be addressed during next week’s combined town meeting. Students from Algonquin have demanded policy change regarding the requirements for our school lunches. The food currently being offered to adolescents in the cafeteria, school store, café area, and are filled with sugars and carbohydrates, that likely promote an unhealthy diet and continued obesity. Upon watching the documentary FED UP in Health, a coalition of students will be asking for policy change, citing the movie as their evidence. FED UP argues that the worldwide epidemic of obesity is endangering our children as a result of the increased sugar consumption.…

Around sixty-seven percent of the people across the country believe schools should offer only nutritious drinks, such as white milk, water, and natural fruit juice, to students. I strongly agree that adding nutritious beverages to school lunches is a logical and reasonable idea. To begin with, when products are locally sourced, the local economy around the school will also receive a boost. Also, when a parent of a school student sends their child, or children, to school, they should not have the need to worry about the things that their kid may drink.…

Here, today, in the 21st Century, we live in a world with nothing but problems. In the Middle East, uncontaminated water is almost impossible to come by, civil wars, acts of terrorism, and everyday starvation are all normal parts of life. Even here in America, issues with both obesity and child hunger are present, both occurring in the same country. I say that some major changes must be made in this problem ridden world. Three major changes that should be made to the world today are: no homework should be given to students of any age, terrorism should be halted indefinitely, and starvation and obesity should cease.…

    Bottled Water Vs Tap Water

On average, thirsty customers in the U.S. throw away sixty million water bottles a day, and for every five water bottles consumed, one is recycled. The length of time for plastic water bottles to decompose is between four hundred and one thousand years. People may choose to drink bottled water over tap water with the misconception that it is the cleaner, tastier, or even a healthier choice. The rate at which people are consuming bottled water is causing landfills to be filled with approximately seventy-five percent of the plastic water bottles that are made. While bottled water sales increase, the consumption of tap water is the most advantageous choice for health benefits, environment conservation, and affordability as a choice for the consumer.…

Kids nowadays are staying up late and not getting enough sleep at night and get sick. They also do not drink enough fluids during the day to help them not get a cold and stay hydrated. The drinking fountains that we have are old and nasty from all the objects that have been put in there over time. With more drinking fountains in the hallways the more time students have to get all of our items and get to class on time.
