Industrial Hygiene (IH) continues to assist Facilities Services and Human Resources in addressing a bed bug issue at the Material Distribution Center (MDC). Traps placed in the affected office area at the MDC, in response to employee complaints of “bites,” revealed live bed bugs on the morning or Aug. 31. An inspection by a specialty exterminator, provided by IH that same day, revealed the presence of bed bugs in several cubicles in the area, including heavy concentrations under the cushion of one office chair. All affected areas were treated cryogenically to kill the bed bugs and a further inspection with a bed bug sniffing dog service was conducted the night of Sept. 1.
