Everyone has had a defining moment in their life that shapes who they are. These major events often affect how people will view them for an extremely long time. When we think about people, we also associate with them their accomplishments, philosophies, and incidents. A major accomplishment that shaped who I am today was being elected Vice- President of the National Junior Honors Society (NJHS). Through this experience, I became the person I am today.
Being Vice President of NJHS, helped make me a bolder and stronger individual. When I was in the junior high, I kept to myself. I only interacted with a few people on a regular basis. The interview process, I encountered to become the Vice- President, helped me come out of my shell. I interviewed in front of a panel of about ten people and had to sell myself as a leader. Also once I was elected I had to give a huge speech to over two hundred students and parents at induction. This helped me become more comfortable with public speaking. As vice president, I negotiated with about ten board members to help resolve problems and discuss new ideas for the group. For example, I took the role as a leader and decided an efficient way for us to meet since there was no longer homeroom. Another way being the vice president helped make me a leader was the meetings with the entire group. Once or twice a month the board would have to organize and run a meeting for all the NJHS members. An example of this was when NJHS made blankets for children in the hospital. I had to make sure everyone knew how to make them, what length to cut the fabric, etc. These activities strengthened my ability to lead. I am able to take lead today because of my experiences as vice president back
