What it is Becoming a School Counselor There are many options when it comes to choosing a career in counseling, there is career counseling, marriage & family, mental health, rehabilitation, school counseling, among many others. I think that counseling is a useful tool that many people should utilize. We live in a time where counseling is becoming more normal, yet, there are still many taboos and misconceptions that prevent a lot of people from seeking help with counselor/therapist. Being a psychology student and being Mexican I find myself correcting people (Hispanics) about how therapy is not something for the “crazy”. I want to be able to change such misconception and demonstrate that this is an important matter and it’s very useful for …show more content…
Based on this result, and according to the website humanmetrics.com, this means that I am a person who likes to help, in fact, I recently had to take another online test for another class to see if I was a rescuer or a helper and my results showed that I am a helper, so I am not surprised by this result. Being an ENFJ is described as being able to handle many responsibilities and having an entrepreneurial ability. I have been handlining many responsibilities since a young age and I just never stopped to think that such thing had anything to do with my personality. Based on the percentages from each letter, we see how the largest percent is for Feeling. Like the letter ‘F’ says it, I am a feeler and therefore I care and appreciate others and I think that is very important in any field of work, but specifically in this one where we are working one on one with others and their feelings. The second largest percentage comes from “Extravert” and I do identify with the results because I have noticed that I like to be around people almost all the time. I like to interact with others, I don’t mind crowded areas where I might have to talk to strangers, I like to be out there and explore, being around people makes me feel comfortable. I think that all that has to do with me being an extroverted person. The other two words have smaller percentages; however, I believe that they still represent my personality. For instance, I do think I perceive things (information) using my intuition, it’s almost like trusting my gut instinct. And being ‘Judging’ seems correct because whatever information I receive I act on it with a plan, I make the judgement of what needs to get done and do it as I planned. Based on the information found in my personality type, I would think that this career might be a good choice for
