Becoming Proficient In Class

Decent Essays
I have become more proficient in my class participation because because I have gotten used to the people in my classes as well as the teachers. In the beginning of the year I rarely participated in any class because I didn't feel comfortable that I didn't know them well. But as I interacted more with my peers so I started participating more and more. Another thing that I have become more proficient in class is my note taking. Before I used to not take any notes for any class because they didn't seem important. But now I have to take notes in every class because it affects my grades and helps me with a lot of my work not like before. Know that I have gotten proficient in my note taking I do my class work so much easier.

Reflection Over that three assignments above and the other assignments we have done over this quarter I have noticed a way of think and formating I do when starting a assignment. When starting an assignment I don't start or finish things in order I'll do the main requirements for what goes where and create how ever many pages it needs then I’ll Start the assignment in the middle where I'm doing the main most important part first. For example this project I started with the hard moments essay instead of a title screen just to get it out of the way. I've noticed I don't talk much in class, even though I used to always get in trouble in language arts and reading for talking because I hated those classes, but not speaking much in class doesn't mean I don't contribute to class. I think I contribute a good amount I volunteer for questions (Sometimes).…

Nearly two years ago a school was created called Early College High School (ECHS), they created a rule called mastery where in all classes, assignments, and quizzes/exams have to be an 80% or higher, if it is below they have mandatory tutoring to bring it up. Now, today students are working harder and studying harder to keep that rule up to standers which also keeps their grades up to stander. Early College tries their hardest to keep that rule intact with every student in the school. When it comes to teacher keeping the students at mastery level they get most of the pressure at insuring the rule is enforced. Mrs.Stanfill a chemistry teacher at Early College High School was asked if the mastery rule is needed in school and her…

Out of all 5 of my talents, Learner describes me the best. As cliché as it may sound, I really have a passion for learning. But my passion for learning extends far past just the usual sitting in class taking notes, or the usual memorization of subjects, instead it really reaches out to deeper depths where I really seek to master everything that is put into my head. I am not okay with only touching base on subjects or barely treading the surface of topics, rather I have to really dive into the text and pay close attention to all the details in order for me to grasp what is going on.…

Over the course of English 102, I have developed a new set of skills and learned to become a better writer. When I first came into English 102 I struggled with many different concepts of writing. During the semester in English 102, my writing became stronger because I learned how to incorporate evidence into my argument, do more thorough research, have smoother transitions, and have more organization throughout my essay. I learned how to peer review better and to take what others say and incorporate it into my essay. In the beginning, before English 102, I struggled with good organization and flow to an essay, sandwich evidence into paragraphs, and having strong arguments in persuasive essays.…

I have become more proficient in some of my classes because I have tried my best to keep up with the work, but I have also been really bad and had my grades down because I keep having health problems. I have missed a lot of school days and that has really affected my grades for all my classes. The days that I have been in class I end up putting my head down for the reason I don't feel good and I dont have the energy to do my work or to learn something new because as much as I try my head started hurting more. I think I haven't grown in my classes like I wanted to and that's something that is really stressing me a lot because I really don't want to repeat the grade I really want to pass my freshman year and go to the next grade.…

I take a lot of notes in most of my lectures so when I am studying for an exam I can see what topics the professor focused a lot on. This helps me see what main points I need to study and what minor points I can skim over. I used this skill on my last exam and it helped me get a better grade than I expected. Looking at the test questions for clues helps me understand what the question is focusing on so I can remember the exact topic and hopefully pick the correct answer. I have used this skill throughout high school and even in college.…

“Short-term lets you hold a restaurant's phone number in your mind as you dial the number, you rely on your short-term memory. This storage is capable of holding roughly seven items of information for approximately 15 to 20 seconds.” (Foster, 2011) Short-term memory is very restricted and needs to make room for all original knowledge coming in consistently. “Long-term is a more permanent storage, hoarding information over hours, days or years. This information can take the form of declarative memories, which include simple facts or specific episodes in your life, or procedural memories to do with skills, such as how to ride a bike.”…

After reading the definition about diverging style it does sound like how I like to learn.…

For me personal mastery teaches that an individual needs to establish their own vision and values and align their actions to these visions and values. These visions and values should also be aligned to that of the organisation. It requires the person to look critically at the current reality and clarifying what is important to them and what they need to do to achieve what they want. This generates what is referred to as creative tension and in personal mastery it requires individuals to learn how to identify and deal with the creative tension in their lives. Creative tension can only be resolved when reality moves towards the vision.…
