Becoming bilingual can almost guarantee a prosperous life. A bilingual person is typically more diverse, will look better to employers, and will obtain a lot of other beneficial perks. Bilinguals will also help change our society for the better with the change in population. Schools need to start requiring second language classes in order to make their students smarter and help them in the future. Someone who has learned a second language will be more diverse. They would have understood another language and in the process another lifestyle previously unknown to them. This new culture will allow them to go about their everyday lives in new and more productive ways and create a better environment that will cater to them. These new diverse students will also be able to help others from these cultures feel more welcome in the United States and their own community. Also, according to Gary Marx and his resources, the number of hispanics is rising and the need for language teachers will also rise dramatically in order to keep an educated nation. If our nation does not stay educated, it will become divided and weaker. Employers will, in turn, be looking for bilingual or multilingual employees in order to help educate them or to communicate with the lower level workers who are often immigrants without a good grasp on the English language. Second language learners will also find other benefits cognitively from their education. Students will be better at problem solving due to their new ability to see things in a different perspective, they will have better memory because they had to remember 2 or more words/phrases for one item in each language, and have better attention and ability to switch between tasks since they are used to switching between
