This degree will also allow me to work in a lab so I can fund medical school and obtain experience in surgery when working with lasers, which is a common practice for ophthalmologists. Overall, I hope to be able to return as an alumnus to my chosen college and teach others the steps I took starting in high school to become who I am, and show them who they also can be. The majority of ophthalmologists are men, and with this being a growing field for women, I will have the opportunity to break gender norms in my future career. This is something I am proud to say I will have the potential to do provided the Sarah Rudolph Memorial Scholarship.
