Becoming A Welder

Welders are defined as a tradesperson who specializes in fusing materials together rather it be metals, steels, or certain plastics. A day in the life of a welder can be a tedious one or a relaxed one depending on what area of welding you choose to go into. There are production welders one that work in plants and manufacture parts or pieces on a production line. Construction welders usually these welders would have joined a union (boilermakers, pipefitters, etc.) and work on various construction sites. Depending on your location and degree of experience as a welder, the money to be made can lead to a very comfortable lifestyle. Welders can enter the industry and start out at $11.98/hour or $25.20/hour according to payscale.com. Since the building industry can sometimes slow down, a lot of welders are without work and collecting unemployment. This is where other aspects of being a welder comes into play at. Before a weld can leave the production floor or before a construction site can be considered completed all welds have to be inspected by a Certified Welding Inspector. This person deems the welds certifiable or non-certifiable. This person also inspects and makes recommendations on the materials, processes, and welder certifications. Not everybody can weld but wants to become a welder because of monetary gain from advancement within not only the company but the industry itself is certain. Every company is always looking for good welders not only to weld but help train new hires and offer advice to the company as well.
