Becoming A Veterinarian

Azlynn did exceptionally well at staying focus and on task throughout our weeks together. She was very shy at first and it took some time in her opening up to me. On the first day together I shared about myself so that she could get to know me better as a person. Once I did that and with each day we were together she opened up more and more. Once she got comfortable enough she liked to talk about what she was going to do after school that day and after every few sentences of reading I would have to ask her to stay focused and get back on track. I felt like if I was going to get the success that she needed I would have to keep her focused. I allowed her to talk to me to and from the library about whatever was on her mind and when we were in the library it was time to give 100 percent focus for the next 40 minutes. This worked quickly and she stayed on topic after that. …show more content…
I believe she has the attitude and motivation to continue practicing in getting better and better, she just needs the push. At the beginning she told me that she didn't need to know how to read to become a veterinarian, so I explained to her many different reasons of why people that want to be veterinarian's have to have the ability to read. I think that she would rather play outside or play with friends rather than reading at home though, so I think if she is given books that she enjoys like books about animals or barbies, those will interest her and she will want to spend that extra time to
