Becoming a UALR student?

My step-father, grandfather, and my stepdad's mother attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. So it would seem that I grew up around University of Little Rock Alumni’s I would want to go, saying that I got a legacy doesn’t mean I had to follow it. My family taught me to be my own person. Even though my family did not encourage me to go to UALR, they encouraged me that it was important to get a college education other than a high school diploma. But my education had to be important to me for me to be successful for my future.

The university of Arkansas at Little Rock was not my first choice, but it became my first choice. In ninth grade, my first choice was the University of California at Los Angeles that was because I loved how it looked on television at their basketball games,

Donaldson Scholars Academy (CWDSA). While during this time I had gotten really comfortable at the school and developed a lot of friendships. That was when I decided that UALR was best for me Because I noticed I was already home.
My next step was deciding what I wanted to do with my life and if I was sure that’s what I wanted. When I was seven years I wanted to be a doctor, when I was nine I wanted to be a fashion designer, and when I was fifteen my dream job was to be an engineer and still has been my dream til this very day. I noticed that was what I love to do and what I am best at. Engineering is what I want to do and I had to make sure the school I wanted to attend had the program at their school.
The reason I want to become a Trojan is because the university offers everything that’s best for me. UALR has a variety of opportunities and is a place to flourish as a person. I feel like UALR will help me advance the most in becoming my own person and future

I chose to attend Wor-Wic Community College because of the support system that Wor-Wic has to offer. I applied to the school and attended it while I was injured with a traumatic knee injury and the staff really proved to me that they cared. I had surgery the first week of classes,so I emailed my teacher and they were all understanding and extremely helpful in accommodating to my needs. The late computer lab hours really helped me to be able to get my school work done after my night classes ended. Everywhere that I go I advocate for Wor-Wic because it is truly more than an institution, it is like another family to me.…

Two developmental milestones that I have faced during my twenty-two years of life, thus far, are beginning college and ending college. Starting college in particular was a developmental milestone because it was different than anything I have ever experienced and for my family to experience as well. I am the first generation in my family to attend college. Both of my parents went straight into the work force after they graduated high school, and were not encouraged by their parents to attend college. I have two older siblings who decided not to attend college, because they wanted to go straight into the work force, and long term did not want to have to worry about paying back student loans.…

College was a big deal since my mom and dad both could not attend and my family always thought I would be the one who could do it.
