Pursuing A Dentist Career

Being a junior in high school is perhaps the most important year. Students are not only preparing for the ACT, but also looking ahead into their future. For some students choosing a career becomes the hardest part because there is a variety of them out there to choose from. However, five careers I’ve grown interest in are education, dentistry, nursing, psychiatrist, and psychical therapist. In addition, all these different careers contain different job duties, yet set you to a path of full success. Do they not only promise you a job in the later future, but in the between time you get to experience an endless gain in knowledge. Becoming a teacher is something I’ve always wanted to be. Additionally, to be able to pursue a career in dentistry one must first earn a bachelors degree which takes 4 years to earn, and then later obtain either a doctoral degree in Dental Medicine or Dental Surgery. 8 years is the amount of time it would take me to become a certified dentist, and be able to work in my community. However, in order to accomplish all of this, I must first attend a college. U.S News and World Report said that the University of California at Los Angeles is the best university to attend for this career. UCLA was ranked one of the top five schools in medicine. Furthermore, the requirements that must be met for the university is having an ACT of 28, and along with that a GPA of 4.03. A dentist’s starting salary would be $140,000 with benefits like paid sick leave, thirty days of paid vacation, health insurance, life insurance. Future physical therapists must earn a bachelors degree of 4 years, and also complete the Doctor Of Physical Therapy Degree Program which can take up to 2-3 years. In total, 6-7 years is the amount of time which takes to become a physical therapist. In addition, the University of Delaware is said to be the best school to earn a degree in physical therapy. U.S News and World Report ranked it #1 in 2016. The University of Delaware require an ACT of 26, and a GPA of 3.5. Starting salaries for physical therapists is $60,000 with benefits that includes dental insurance, paid time off, extended illness days, vision, and medical insurance. Furthermore, after researching 4 careers, this last one takes more years to accomplish but is still a well respected
