Becoming A Successful College Student
“Do something today that your future self will thank you for.” This is a piece of motivation that all high schoolers should consider when thinking about furthering their own education . College is the time when many students find out who they are, what their career will be, and what skills and abilities they exceeded in. Achieving success is different for every person, but there are some general aspects that students will all have in common. These include: staying focused, finding habits that work for you, having a fun filled experience, getting involved with your school or community, all while being in a different environment than ever before. While studying is important, a social life and having fun will make your college experience unique. Patrick B. states that preparing for classes is a huge part of college, but being involved in activities is also another crucial part. “Structuring activities around school will almost inevitably equate to a higher GPA, more success, and richer, more rewarding time in college. But always remember you are at school to learn first, and then to have fun.” This quote sheds light on the importance of being socially active with your fellow classmates and the benefits you can reap from doing so. It is a proven fact that students who are involved in extracurricular activities are more well-rounded individuals who succeed in the classroom. As a high school student, I have seen the benefits from being involved in my school and community. Volunteering is a valuable resource for all students to utilize and become more involved in the activities that are surrounding them while serving others in need. By being active in and out of school, students can prepare themselves for life after college. There are many opportunities for students to widen their horizons and get out of their comfort zones. Friends and family are great support systems that can help out in many situations. These are people who can help students achieve their goals and push them towards their ambitions. College is hard, and students need to be willing to go above and beyond to accomplish their goals. While college may seem difficult at times, the benefits from it will be very profitable.
