“Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning”(Franklin). Learning and growing is the best part of life in my opinion, only because whether we believe it or not we do learn and grow. There is many ways that we grow; it can be spiritually, physically, and/or mentally. Initially, when I first started this course, I believed that I knew everything becoming a successful college student. But professor Dr. Kepic , allowed me to look more into my soul , and mind and find ways I can maximize my college potential. The lessons that was the most meaningful to me were Expand Your Emotional Intelligence, Manage Your Time, Listen and Take Effective Notes, Improve Your Memory Skills, …show more content…
I’m using the mountain analogy to compare the obstacles that the lessons and activities the chapter helped me get overcome. Expand Your Emotional Intelligence, or chapter 2, had a great deal of strategies that helped build a foundation to assist in my growth and positive experiences throughout the course. The chapter began with understanding yourself with emotional intelligence and maturity. Understanding yourself and your emotional maturity with others allowed me to take steps in perfecting the role I play with respects to responsibility, self control, and self esteem/confidence. The motivational cycle was the influential strategy in my life. This cycle listed 10 strategies so I gave it an acronym of S.S.L.U.U.U.U.R.A.M, and I mainly used A, which stands for Act as if you were motivated, all 4 U’s, which stands for Use visualizations, Understand expectations, Use goals as motivational tools, and Use Affirmations. I implemented these strategies by first asking myself “Why are you on this earth?” ;I figured that asking myself this question would guide me in discovery my motivational source.
