Becoming a Student Teacher: Module Assessment
In the module ‘Becoming a student teacher’ three aspects were covered in the five weeks; ‘Life Skills’, ‘ICT’ and ‘Academic Writing’.
In Life Skills the learning experiences were on ‘Self-identity, Transitions and Relationships’, ‘Effective Communication and Assertiveness Skills’, ‘Decision Making’, ‘Motivation regarding Study’ and ‘Stress Management’. I found the section on ‘Self-identity, Transitions and Relationships’ to be very insightful and helpful as it was highly relative to our lives because we were in the middle of an important and difficult transition from second level education to third level education. In the change my peers and I had to make new relationships to form friendships which in turn would make the transition easier and less daunting for us, therefore on learning about how to cope with transitions and how to make new relationships was beneficial for me and my class. Although the aspect of ‘Study Motivation and Stress Management’ was largely relevant to my life as I am now in college I felt for a large part that what was being said and discusses in the classes I had head many times before in dealing with the Leaving Cert in secondary school last year, therefore I did not benefit much from this section of the module and it …show more content…
I really enjoyed when we learned about the program ‘Class Dojo’ which I believe I would find this of benefit to me and make teaching easier and engage the students in my school placements in the coming years. We also were thought a bit about internet safety and how to save videos from the internet so as to not be using the internet in class which would distract the students and I believe I will use in the future.
