The Process In Becoming A Straight-A Student
Seeing the students around you earning A’s, they make it seem easy but when it comes to you there is no way in becoming a straight-A student. Now do not be deceived it is not easy but it takes time and flexibility in order to accomplish the strategies of becoming the straight-A student you want to be. In the book, How to Become A Straight-A Student by Cal Newport the author’s message is to give the reader his perspective of how to become a successful straight-A student in college. The author focused in many methods and strategies to help guide the reader in choosing the techniques, but the five concepts that resonated with me as a student are how to conduct your time wisely, how to avoid procrastination,

These two concepts stood out to me the most because I as a student does procrastination at its best and always forgets about assignments because of my tendency of leaving things for the last minute. When reading about these concepts, it was an eye opener because I never would have thought that high school students lack in one particular skill--time management. As a reader I thought, “What else can high school students lack in?” Which made me connect to my life as a highschool student, I can resonate because I change my plans in the day to hang out which ruins the point of organizing my day. “Time management is critical--it’s a skill that you absolutely must develop over the course of your time at college” (Newport, 19). That is the line that made me want to emulate this in my daily life because if I could start the day by sorting my plans and by using accountability charts in order to plan my day both socially and academically. I would be using my hours of the day wisely and all would help me accomplish obtaining ace in my classes and keep me in track in my social life. Therefore, we can all lack skills but by taking control of the hours of your day is a productive way to get your assignments …show more content…
This author’s method was to question other students of their experience, which in total there were many concepts and strategies but the five techniques that stood out to me most as a reader and as student are time management, procrastination, studying skills, pseudo work and the choices we as students make. These five technique has affected my life and I will soon emulate them in my daily life in order to become a straight-A
